Description

The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing automation testing plans across various technical products and services. This includes testing solutions before, during, and after deployment. The engineer will conduct front-end, back-end, integration, performance, scalability, and regression testing to ensure the product quality is maintained. You will work closely with the development squads, participating in Scrum meetings and collaborating to ensure automation testing aligns with business needs. This role also involves monitoring and improving testing frameworks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and proactively identifying risks to protect the integrity of Absa’s solutions.

Responsibilities

  • QA Engineering: Participate in the full solution development lifecycle within a squad or multiple squads as a QA automation engineer
  • Analyze requirements for automation testing using design specifications and technical documents
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts using various technologies, including SQL scripts, automated scripts, and test harnesses
  • Perform regression, integration, black-box, and scalability testing on technical products
  • Ensure automation and technical testing deliverables are completed on time
  • Prepare QA and automation testing documentation for planning, design, and execution

  • Collaboration & Process Improvement: Actively participate in Scrum meetings and project planning sessions
  • Work with product engineers to improve and enhance software quality by offering recommendations
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing frameworks across teams
  • Conduct performance monitoring on applications tested and provide reports

  • Risk & Governance: Ensure all testing procedures comply with risk management and governance protocols
  • Identify and communicate risks ahead of need and ensure compliance with automation testing standards
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery processes, implementing mitigation strategies when necessary

  • Peer Support & Development: Participate in peer reviews and help develop automation testing skills across the team
  • Share knowledge and continuously develop automation testing capabilities within the squads

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology (Essential) Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks and tools
  • Understanding of coding languages relevant to test automation
  • Experience with various types of testing (regression, integration, scalability, etc
